The Englishman has an outstanding 45-minute performance against United, capped off by a spectacular goal. Joselu caps off the white triumph with a fantastic Chilean.
The preseason is little more than a rough draft of what will happen when the wins matter and the losses sting, but Bellingham paints well. Ancelotti built the team to his needs, and the Englishman has more than justified such a bold move. His hierarchy is global, not new. Madrid plays for him, and he is doing quite well. With a fantastic goal, he linked his second summer victory against a United team that was before unknown to him. Then, very late, Joselu sealed the deal with a spectacular Chilean kick. It was worth it to wait until the finish to applaud the trick.

What they saw in Houston, a space city, will be very close to what they saw in Madrid this year: many amply justified minutes from Camavinga; a few less for Tchouameni until he realizes that this club only admits extraordinary and non-routine players; appeals to Modric for what matters; Generalate for Bellingham, by investment and conviction; foreseeable sorpasso of Fran Garca to Mendy, and free rein for Vinicius and Rodrygo, Joselu has already boarded that vehicle.
United, the greatest classic in English football and the country’s first European champion, has dominated petro-football both at home and abroad. And now he rises to that rump (Qatari in his instance) in pursuit of rebuilding. Onana and Mount, both newcomers, were the first to arrive. And Ten Hag pitted them both against Madrid. Varane and Casemiro were also named in the latest Madrid honor book. Rodrygo was knocked to the ground in less than a minute by the Brazilian. Soccer is a rather unfeeling sport.
And at 7, ‘Bellingham established himself as a top-tier footballer. He drew an unmarked Rüdiger, controlled the German’s long ball with his left, and chipped Onana with his right. A fantastic goal from an unnoticed footballer who switches from midfielder to winger, from true ten to false nine. No two players are same, but Zidane shares more than just the number five on his back. A midfielder who will collaborate and not wander. His assimilation has been direct, possibly because Ancelotti’s sketching provided him with a strong start.
Lisandro’s screw
The goal was followed by a protracted period of false balance: the ball was spread but not the gunpowder. Garnacho and Rashford were tied, although Madrid spent more time in the opponent zone. Vinicius, with his street smarts, was gathering Wan-Bissaka for an inside shot, which Onana snatched away from him. When he departed the band, he was replaced by Fran Garca, one of the Bernabéu’s favorite repeat full-backs. But it was Bellingham’s enjoyment that irritated Lisandro Martnez, who administered an unjustified screw around halftime.
At halftime, Ancelotti replaced the Englishman, changed more than half of the team, and Madrid lost color. When Bruno Fernandes and Garnacho appeared in a more aggressive United, Nacho had two miraculous interventions. In the band, the Spanish-Argentinean was a perpetual riot, and Lucas Vázquez tolerated him more than Carvajal.
With half an hour to go, United’s dramatic shift threw the game out of control, leading him to the areas more regularly. Lunin turned away attempts from McTominay, Van van Beek, and Bruno Fernandes, while Joselu, a debutant to the game, set up three decent chances in three minutes. Finally, a true nine never hurts. And he demonstrated it when United pushed the hardest, with a spectacular Chilean kick that sealed the game. He recommends a luxury plan B for a Madrid that arrives at the Classic dressed to the nines on Saturday.
