Novak Djokovic has revealed how he is exploring the world of fashion with the support of his wife, Jelena, and others close to him. The confession comes after photos of him from a recent shoot in China, where he was wearing a green Lacoste tracksuit, went viral.
Currently in Shanghai for the Rolex Shanghai Masters, a tournament he has won four times (2012, 2013, 2015, 2018), Djokovic heads into the competition on the back of a disappointing 2024 season, devoid of ATP Tour-level titles.
Despite his patchy form, the Serbian looked enthusiastic in his green tracksuit as he explored historic sites in China. He shared the moment on Instagram with the caption: “Chinese dreams in Lacoste green,” racking up more than half a million likes.
In a pre-tournament interview with Tennis TV, Djokovic spoke about his choice of clothing and how his wife and friends in the fashion world have advised him to break away from his conservative style. “I’m starting to broaden what I can wear… in the past, I didn’t care so much about fashion off the court,” he said.
The former number one also mentioned that his memories of the 90s inspired him to innovate in his style. “I was more of a conservative jeans and polo shirts guy, but now I’m stepping out of the box a bit. The green tracksuit brought me back to the 90s… remembering the music and how everyone dressed,” he added.
Now, Djokovic hopes to find out his opponent in his first match at the Rolex Shanghai Masters.
