Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, a midfielder for Tottenham Hotspur, has reportedly caught the eye of Manchester United.
Spurs are eager to trade Hojbjerg to United before the transfer deadline on Friday, and the club has extended an invitation for negotiations to begin.
Earlier this summer, Atletico Madrid had a proposal of £30 million approved for the 28-year-old, but the transfer fell through due to a dispute over the player’s personal terms.
Despite being offered a massive wage sum of £45m net of tax over the course of his contract, the Danish international recently passed down the opportunity to join the Saudi Pro-League.
A crucial senior player until this season, Hojbjerg signed a five-year, £15 million deal to join Spurs from Southampton as Jose Mourinho’s first summer acquisition in 2020.
Under new head coach Ange Postecoglou, he has made two Premier League appearances off the bench. However, Postecoglou prefers Yves Bissouma and Pape Sarr together.
United’s manager Erik ten Hag has been pushing for a new center midfielder, but whether or not negotiations progress remаins to be seen.
However, it looks that United needs to boost sales in order to meet its financial obligations. United are willing to let Scott McTominay leave if the right price is offered, but sources close to Bayern Munich have downplayed reports that head coach Thomas Tuchel is interested in signing McTominay. United has set its asking price for the Scottish player at £45 million, but they will have to settle for less.
The signing of Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah, 24 years old, on a permanent agreement rather than a loan, is Tuchel’s top aim.
United has reportedly held talks with Fiorentina to sign Sofyan Amrabat, who has been their top priority, but the club has yet to make an offer, suggesting that funds must be brought into Old Trafford before a deal can be struck.
Amrabat’s delegates are weighing their options, as they have grown upset with the slow pace of negotiations. It would appear that Fiorentina has decided to hold off on using the 27-year-old Moroccan international until the end of the summer window.
Amrabat has made it known he would rather play in the Premier League than at Atletico.
United have had problems in the middle of the field all season, and losing new addition Mason Mount for three to five weeks with a hamstring ιnjury is a major setback.
The loss of Luke Shaw to ιnjury has also thrown a wrench into United’s plans and necessitated the search for a replacement left defender. Their targets are Marc Cucurella, Marcos Alonso, and Sergio Reguilon.
