Ice Spice admits she was ‘incredibly confused’ at Super Bowl with Taylor Swift
The rapper, 24, recently revealed her confusion when attending Super Bowl LVIII alongside Taylor Swift.
When reflecting on the game during Friday’s episode of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” she admitted she didn’t “have a clue” what was going on.
“I was incredibly confused. I’m still confused,” Ice Spice said.
The “In Ha Mood” rapper explained that all of her prior knowledge about football “just went away” when she walked into Allegiant Stadium.
“I honestly would just wait until Taylor cheered,” she noted, describing her strategy of how she knew when to applaud.
Following Swift’s reactions was a smart choice given the pop star, 34, has become quite knowledgeable on football, as she and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce began dating last year.
In her interview for Time’s 2023 Person of the Year, the 14-time Grammy winner shared her newfound appreciation for the sport.
“Football is awesome, it turns out,” Swift said. “I’ve been missing out my whole life.”
At the time of the big game, social media users quickly took note of Ice Spice’s confused looks and speculated she didn’t know what was going on. She went viral after a fan snapped a photo of her looking extremely puzzled next to Swift who was jumping up and down with joy.
The pair, also accompanied by Ashley Avignone and Blake Lively, were watching the game from Kelce’s VIP suite.
Commentary on social media was full of jokes about Ice Spice’s expressions.
One user quipped: “Ice not knowing what’s going on,” while another laughed, “I’m Ice Spice i have genuinely no idea what’s happening.”
“I’m telling my kids this was ‘Inside Out,’” a third commented, referring to the 2015 Disney film, as each person in the photo seemed to be in different moods.
Ice Spice also took over the internet when Swift introduced her to Jason Kelce, former Philadelphia Eagles center and Travis’ older brother, at the game.
“Jason Kelce getting introduced to Ice Spice was not on my 2024 bingo card,” one X user joked, as the pairing was unexpected.
Ice Spice’s Super Bowl appearance came a week after she received four Grammy nominations.
Her latest comments about Swift came after she defended their friendship during an interview with Rolling Stone. She addressed the “rude” claims that the “Anti Hero” singer is using her for clout and their friendship isn’t genuine.
“[It’s] so rude to me,” she told the outlet. “[Because] why would she not want to be my friend? Taylor f – – ks with me. She’s so funny. I think our personalities mesh really well.”
