2021Australian Openrunner-up Jennifer Brady has suffered another setback as the American won’t be making her long-awaited return at the French Open. Brady, 28, hasn’t played since 2021 August when she decided to take a long break from tennis and address the knee injury that was bothering her for quite some time.
In March, former world No 13 Brady revealed she was aiming to make her long-awaited return to tennis at the French Open. Brady was practicing on clay and preparing for the French Open but then suffered an unfortunate foot injury.
The hope remains that Brady’s latest injury isn’t a serious one.
In late March, Brady revealed she was practicing on clay and getting ready to play at the French Open.
“My goal is the French Open, that’s what I am shooting for. You know, I am out here, switching over to grinding on the red clay. Well, I wouldn’t say grinding here, but you know, getting the body used to sliding, getting used to, you know, a little bit of movement, all that kind of stuff,” Brady said in March.
Brady was aiming to return to tennis at some point in 2022 but it didn’t happen. When asked in March if something similar could happen again this year, Brady suggested probably not. “Today, no, but you know what? We are on a better track than we were last year, we will tell you that.
Definitely on the right track, figuring things out, definitely not an easy case, so all kinds of little stuff going on. So, we are a on a better place than we were last year, that’s for sure,” Brady said. Hopefully, this latest setback will be resolved quickly and Brady will be able to start practicing on grass. It remains to be seen if Brady’s comeback will come during the grass season.
