“The Bronco was just the ideal fit for Rushville,” Michael Daniels, a lifetime local and Bronco owner, notes. “This truck could do anything from equipment haul-on to local trail exploration to just town cruise. It now truly defines the character of the community.

The Bronco has established a frequent sight on Rushville’s streets over the years; its unique boxy form and shining chrome embellishments help the town’s scenery to be recognizable. Owners have painstakingly kept their Broncos, passing them on over the years and reveling in their vintage cars.

“My grandfather bought his Bronco brand new in ’66, and I’ve been driving it ever since I got my license,” local high school student Emma Watkins adds. “To me, it’s a family legacy and a link to the past of this community, not only a car. I never want to sell it.

Furthermore influencing Rushville is the legacy of the 1966 Ford Bronco outside of personal ownership. Every year, the town throws a “Bronco Bash” event when owners from all around come to highlight their most valuable items, trade stories, and honor the ongoing attraction of this venerable off-roader.

“For many of us, The Bronco Bash marks one of the highlights of the year,” notes Daniels. “This is an opportunity to meet like-minded aficioners and truly value the legacy and character of these vehicles. In Rushville, they represent a way of life rather than only vehicles.

The 1966 Ford Bronco stays especially dear to the people of Rushville as the years pass. Whether negotiating the town’s backroads or speeding down Main Street, these tough SUVs have become a defining feature of the community, tying the past to the present and motivating a fresh batch of off-road enthusiasts.
