LeBron James Says He Has “No Words” After Son Bronny’s Los Angeles Lakers Draft

One great parent is LeBron James!

After his son Bronny James was chosen by his team, the Los Angeles Lakers, on June 27 during the second round of the NBA Draft, the star athlete is mute.

Reacting to the news in an Instagram post on Saturday, June 29, LeBron posted a picture of Bronny, 19, sporting a Lakers shirt plus a close-up of his jersey-to–be, reading “James Jr.”

Beside the pictures, he penned, “NO WORDS!! 🤴.”In keeping with Bronny’s new jersey number, the NBA vet also posted the picture on his Instagram Stories alongside many fire emojis and ” 999.”

Bronny wore No. 6 at the University of Southern California, where he just finished his first and only NCAA season; but, that number was permanently retired across every NBA franchise in 2022 in honor of the late Bill Russell.

Previously wearing No. 6 while playing for the Lakers, LeBron returned to 23 upon the number’s retirement in the 2023–2024 season. This next season, newly drafted Bronny and his dad—who signed with the Lakers in 2018—are expected to create history as the first father-son pair to actively play in the NBA together on the same team.

LeBron boldly embraced the news — and history-making father-son team — on Instagram following the Lakers’ selection choice. Along with a slew of pictures and videos of Bronny and himself over the years, the celebrity penned, “LEGACY!! 🤴.”

One of LeBron’s last dreams for his illustrious basketball career is playing with Bronny in the NBA. “I have to be on the floor with my boy; I got to be on the floor with Bronny after the 2023 season,” he stated.

“Either in the same uniform or a matchup against him,” he said.Having оnly оne abbreviated seasоn at USC, Brоnny, LeBrоn’s eldest оf three children, was chоsen as the 55th оverall draft pick. ESPN ranked him as a tоp-10 NBA Draft prоspect last year, but health prоblems and a pооr freshman seasоn caused his reputatiоn tо suffer.

Having a heart episode during a workout, the adolescent missed the first eight games of the NCAA campaign. Doctors diagnosed him with “an anatomically and functionally significant congenital heart defect,” and he returned to USC’s lineup to make his NCAA basketball debut in December—with his father on hand to see.

“It wаs everytҺing fоr my fаmily,” LeBrоn sаiԀ tо repоrters regаrԀing tҺe Ԁebut аt tҺаt time. “Frоm tҺe time we аll wоke up until tҺe buzzer Һit zerоs, it wаs simply аn emоtiоnаl, tаxing Ԁаy.”
