It was a car set to bring back one of the most formidable names in motoring. A name steeped in glory, one that represented craftsmanship unlike any other, and a relentless drive to be the very best. It’s fair to say the EB110 GT had some rather large shoes to fill, but thankfully for Bugatti, when crowds first laid their hands on it around this time in September back in 1991, they instantly fell in love with it.

The car was designed to celebrate the 110th birthday of Ettore Bugatti, combining at-the-time cutting-edge technology with a design truly unlike anything else on the road, marking a clear reflection of Bugatti’s heritage and engineering excellence. Like many other supercars at the time, the EB110 GT was powered by a V12. However, unlike its rivals, it featured 3.5-litre V12, with a staggering four turbocharged on hand, returning an impressive 553 horsepower. Not only was it gorgeous to look at and had the soundtrack to go with it, the EB110 GT was a real rocket ship, blasting from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.2 seconds and onto 213 mph, making it faster than a Ferrari SF90, McLaren Senna, and only marginally slower than its far younger sibling, the Chiron Pur Sport.

With a mere 88 examples ever made, finding yourself an EB110 GT can be an arduous task to say the least, but the ever-impressive Schaltkulisse have the perfect example, finished in the sleek Grigio Chiaro Metallizzato over a Grigio Scuro interior. The car has been enjoyed to the fullest around Europe since it was delivered new in 1994 to Germany, racking up 30,500km from its minimal owner list. Unlike so many which have sat dormant as pieces of art, this example has seen consistent use through the years, meaning that the GT was serviced often and isn’t in need of a mechanical restoration.

As the world welcomes Bugatti’s latest and greatest array of hypercars, it’s easy to forget the origins of where the revival came from. The EB110 GT is so much more than just a returning name, it stood for a continuation of the deep-rooted foundations Ettore all those decades prior, and for that, we love the EB110 GT even more!
